3300 Cassida Commercial Money Counterfeit Bill Detector
*** Update *** The company and the seller were great at addressing the issue below. I ended up buying a new multi-currency device and returning the old one for a refund. The new one works great, as advertised. So I would recommend this merchant and the product. In my opinion, it is a high quality product for verifying currency. ***
I have recently purchased this product as a gift for a friend who handles cash: both US dollars and Euro. The item was shipped on time and arrived with no issues. However, after reading the manual I learned that the unit I got only supports USD! Any other currency is an option. This contradicts the Product description on Amazon.com which states (as of 1/2/2011): "The 3300 has Multi-currency capabilities.". Some pictures of this device show EUR note printed on the device.
I have contacted Customer Care. Their response was fairly quick considering the Holiday Season. I expected the device to connect to Cassida servers over the internet and upgrade the software to support an additional currency. I assumed my device had "Multi-currency capabilities" as far as hardware goes.
Here's the reply:
"For multiple currencies, you will need to purchase a newer model. Unfortunately, the model that you have purchased cannot be modified.
If you would like to purchase a newer model, you will be offered a special discount."
Clearly, I do not need two identical devices. The product description contradicts the response I received from Customer Care. I am very unhappy with my purchase. Furthermore, this purchase does not qualify for Amazon standard return policy. I have to contact the seller. It seems that the seller is unwilling to exchange the product even though this product does not match the product description published on Amazon.com.
I will contact Cassida once again to ask them to exchange my device for a multi-currency unit. I will update this review when I get a reply.
It's fair to note that other than the multi-currency issue it seems to be a great, well-designed product.
